Last weekend, David and I headed to Orlando to celebrate our little man at our Baby Shower! We were halfway to Orlando when I realized I left my camera at home (cue the tears) so all of these photos are from our iPhones. It was such a great afternoon of catching up with friends and celebrating our baby boy. I got to hug some college girlfriends I haven’t seen in a while and rub the bellies of two other pregnant friends! We played some fun games, ate delicious food, and we opened so many wonderful gifts. A few of the most memorable gifts were a onesie that my sister made that said “Hand picked for Earth by my Pop-Pop in Heaven” in honor of our Dad, a handmade, crocheted lovey blanket by our youngest sister (19 years old and taught herself how to crochet!), and so many books with sweet messages inside to stock up baby’s library. I’m 34 weeks pregnant now and counting down the days until we get to meet our little man! We can’t wait!!
And here’s a little Q&A update on our pregnancy journey…
How far along are you? I’m currently 34 weeks! He is due July 6th.
Are you feeling baby moving? Yes! His movements have changed the past few weeks because he’s getting bigger and running out of space to move. I feel little wiggles and rolls usually when I sit down. It’s so fun to look down and see my belly move around with his movements. He gets hiccups usually once or twice a day and those rhythmic thumps are one of my favorite things!
How have you been feeling? Still fortunate to say that I’ve been feeling great! Sometimes I forget that I’m carrying around a 5 pound baby in there because I have days where I still feel completely normal (but then I try to roll over in bed and quickly remember my gigantic belly). Other days, I feel extremely stretched and my back/ribs feel sore. My biggest problem has been my sciatic nerve, mostly when I get up after laying down. It is a pain in my butt, literally!
Do you have a name picked out yet? We have a few names that we both like and will decide for sure once we see his sweet face after his arrival.
Are you still teaching? I just wrapped up my fifth year of teaching Kindergarten and I won’t be returning to school in August. I’m so excited to be able to stay home with baby for his first year of life.
Are you still going to do photography? Yes! I plan to take a maternity leave from June – October and not take on any new jobs during those months. I’ll be back in photo action after October!
How have you grown closer to God through this? Lots and lots of trust. I’ve really been trying to let myself enjoy this journey and not worry about the little details along the way. He is in control and is intricately caring for our sweet babe.
How is David doing? If you follow me on social media, you may have seen that David was in an accident almost two months ago where he fell and broke his L1 vertebrae, his collarbone, and his temporal lobe over his right ear. We were in the hospital for 4 days after the accident and he’s fortunately been recovering ever since. His shoulder is mostly healed and he can use it freely now. The blood in his ear eventually dried and turned into a large scab in his canal and is slowly getting smaller and making its way out. The ringing in his ear is mostly gone. He is still wearing the back brace to help his back heal and the doctor said he can slowly wean himself off of it next week! Only about one more week in the hard-shell brace and we both are soo excited to say goodbye to it! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support as he recovered.
Thank you for following along and for all of the kind words and excitement so far!! We are thankful for you!
